About Sid

Born in Montreal in 1935, Sid Allcorn has been an educator, motivational speaker and author for more than fifty years.

In 1982 Sid founded the Ontario Peer Helpers’ Association (OPHA), a non-profit organisation whose mandate includes instructing and supporting students in practicing and promoting leadership, confronting bullying, advocating diversity, motivational speaking and restorative work. The OPHA has since grown to include more than two hundred schools across Ontario, with a board of directors, an annual conference, and more than 3,000 peer helpers from elementary to secondary-school.

Since retiring from full-time teaching in 1992 he remains active with community and charitable work, and pursuing personal interests in writing, woodworking and exploring the power of prayer.  Faced with the daily challenges of living with Parkinson’s Disease, Sid finds strength in his family and in his faith.
